What happens when you leave a SWITCH in a real lab

We observed scientists using it in their daily workflows. The reaction was consistent enough that we gave it a name.

SWITCH Hybrid Pipette: The INTEGRA Smile

Efficiency gains

Built for labs that value workflow continuity

01

Less back and forth

One aspiration, multiple dispenses. Stop cycling between tools and stay in the flow of your experiment.

02

Reduced fatigue

Based on research in partnership with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, and internal testing, the SWITCH recorded the lowest total plunger force — 8.4 N at 200 µl.

03

Faster workflows

Eliminate the setup overhead of electronic pipettes while still getting their repeat dispensing speed. The best of both without the complexity.

Common questions

Frequently asked about the SWITCH

The SWITCH eliminates the need to alternate between manual and electronic pipettes. A single toggle switches between precise manual pipetting and electronic repeat dispensing, reducing bench interruptions, minimizing tool changes, and lowering time spent on repetitive liquid handling tasks.

In most workflows, yes. The SWITCH provides the tactile feedback of a manual pipette and the repeat dispensing capability of an electronic pipette in one tool. Labs using both instruments for different steps of the same protocol can typically consolidate to a single SWITCH pipette.

Workflows combining precision and volume — such as plate filling, reagent distribution, and aliquoting — benefit most. The SWITCH handles both the manual precision steps and high-throughput repeat dispensing in a single instrument.

The SWITCH provides a full day of pipetting on one charge and supports USB-C charging even while in use. It is also compatible with the INTEGRA Flex charging stand, which charges up to 6 pipettes simultaneously in linear or rotary format.

We partnered with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) to evaluate pipetting from a biomechanics perspective, and to ensure the new INTEGRA SWITCH hybrid pipette would meet the highest ergonomic standards in the industry.

Applications

Where it makes the biggest difference

Volume measurement

Aspirate an unknown volume — the SWITCH displays the exact amount on screen, eliminating extra measurement steps.

Serial dilution

Toggle between precision manual control for dilution steps and electronic dispensing for plate transfer — without changing tools.

Reagent distribution

Distribute the same reagent volume across multiple tubes in seconds. Set count and volume physically on the pipette itself.
